Next, they are transferred from the cam-controlled gripper arm of an infeed starwheel to the blowing wheel at a rate of up to 81,000 bottles/hour (22.5 bottles/second), where they are blown into bottles using compressed air. The finished bottles are then removed from the blowing station by the outfeed starwheel and transferred to an air conveyor. 

For this challenging application, the KRONES engineers rely on our TP⁺050 HIGH TORQUE gearbox. A decisive factor in opting for this included its high torsional rigidity and low torsional backlash. Moreover, our gearboxes are ideally suited for continuous operation at high temperatures. Last but not least, the energy efficiency in the case of servo motors combined with our gearboxes is significantly higher than with torque-motor solutions.

High ambient temperatures are present in the infeed and outfeed starwheel turret areas. For this reason, we developed a water-cooled adapter plate specially for this application in order to effectively cool our gearbox and the connected motor. This increases the service life of the TP⁺050 HIGH TORQUE considerably.
